While you can’t out-exercise a sh*tty diet, moving your body on a daily basis is absolutely essential. And by moving I mean sweating, red faced and jazz like that.
Try to find something you love doing, you don’t have to go to the gym.
I personally really enjoy cycling, but while a bike can be quite expensive, I would advise you to try something that’s basically free, like Yoga or running.
Yoga is incredibly cheap – besides a yoga mat and some comfy pants you don’t need any equipment at all. I would suggest you try out your local yoga studios if you’re an absolute beginner or have any medical conditions. But, of course, there is great content online.
